Early one morning this past fall I hiked out to a bluff at Big South Fork where I like to photograph. It offers so many photographic opportunities that I find myself drawn to it anytime that I am in the area. This time however it was so socked in with fog that I finally decided to head back. It was on the walk back that the fog shrouded forest inspired me to create this image.

I was hiking along the edge of a rock bluff when I began to see wonderful abstract patterns written in the eroded stone. Hours past as I composed images of stone……

“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.”  ~John Muir

I arrived along the river at sunrise and spent the entire day wandering along its edge making images. As so often happens it was almost dark before I began the hike back. I hadn’t gone very far when I saw these boulders reflecting in the water.  I paused to create this image and “reflect” upon the day with them.

One of our clients sent us this picture of an installation of one of our images as an ” around the corner” installation in a healthcare facility. It is on frosted Plexi and it is 8 feet high by 16 feet long! We think it is a creative way to approach using art for a corridor space.

There is a zone I strive for when creating photographs. It is probably similar to the zone athletes and other artists reach where time stops and there is only this moment…..

It is a wondrous place!

I was photographing in early spring in the Texas Hill country and I became fascinated by the abstract patterns that were being created and changed almost instantly by the wind. The wind can create problems for photography but it can also create opportunities!

a way. So we must dig and delve unceasingly.”

This year’s fall season winds quietly down along the Little River. I love the quiet time that I spend alone in nature creating images at this time of year. Things slow down and my image making becomes more contemplative.
