On a recent trip to Texas, I spotted these islands of bluebonnets that appeared to be floating just above a sea of yellow and green. The Texas Dandelions made a wonderful “ocean” for my “Bluebonnet Island” composition. It is always exciting to me to find subjects in nature that can be portrayed literally and in a totally unrelated way simultaneously. In this case a field of Texas Bluebonnets and Texas Dandelions becomes islands of blue floating in an ocean of yellow.
