I am back in town for the opening of my show Natural Vision at Ensworth on Friday October 31st.  Then next week I will head out again to continue the chasing the Fall color. In the meantime here is an image from last week.

The Smoky Mountains is one of the most magnificent areas in the country.  Despite The Smoky Mountains’ awe inspiring vistas I seem to be drawn to photograph the intimate landscapes as much as anything. I created this image while hiking and exploring along the edge of a stream late one afternoon

I think it is only natural as an artist to evolve. In the past couple of years patterns have become a deep source of inspiration whenever I go into nature to photograph. Discovering, isolating, composing and photographing these abstract patterns is exciting and fulfilling……

I was hiking along the edge of a rock bluff when I began to see wonderful abstract patterns written in the eroded stone. Hours past as I composed images of stone……

I was photographing in early spring in the Texas Hill country and I became fascinated by the abstract patterns that were being created and changed almost instantly by the wind. The wind can create problems for photography but it can also create opportunities!
