I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.  ~John Muir

This image was created while exploring the structure of this plant on a hillside  one morning. I take as much joy in these macro explorations as I do in my larger scale nature photographic treks.

“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity… and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.”

― William Blake

Why do I photograph nature? I find great joy in discovering moments such as this in nature, and great satisfaction in sharing them. Maybe I can make someone’s day a little better as a result of sharing an image.

This morning while at one of my favorite sunrise spots, I considered a number of compositions. Then I decided to stand under the tree I was next to and use the overhanging limbs in the image.

“See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence…we need silence to be able to touch souls.”
