This is an image of a project we worked on in Chicago that featured one of my images.

This image of sepia toned tree branches with my sumi-e treatment was produced in a massive mural treatment as you can see in the images above.

We are being called on to produce large scale prints, glass pieces, acrylic and mural projects with growing regularity. By large scale, we are talking images 10 feet and larger. Our largest installed print to date was over 55 feet wide! This can only be accomplished using the Ultra-High resolution images that Byron has been producing for years. Byron is a master printer and we can print on paper or canvas in individual pieces or panels at whatever size needed. We also prepare size and crop to order. Delivering ready to print digital files for production by other labs, when that is desirable.

“Everything you can imagine is real.” – Pablo Picasso

Most of my photography features almost no photoshop manipulation. Usually just cleanup of dust and slight contrast and saturation adjustments to get a result similar to what I used to achieve with film. This image however, is purely from my imagination….

“An early-morning walk is a blessing for the whole day. ” Henry David Thoreau

I love hiking in the forest in deep fog. Sometimes finding images in these conditions can be difficult at first. This is especially true if you have a preconceived idea of what you will see and photograph.  I have found however, that if I accept the fog, the light and the obscured view, images abound….

“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity… and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.”

― William Blake

Why do I photograph nature? I find great joy in discovering moments such as this in nature, and great satisfaction in sharing them. Maybe I can make someone’s day a little better as a result of sharing an image.

This morning while at one of my favorite sunrise spots, I considered a number of compositions. Then I decided to stand under the tree I was next to and use the overhanging limbs in the image.

“See how nature – trees, flowers, grass – grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence…we need silence to be able to touch souls.”

“Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.”

I had my eye on this Gingko tree for several days before the right conditions presented themselves for this photograph. The tree fairly glowed in the heavy fog at sunrise and I had only a few minutes to set up and get the image. Within 5-6 minute the fog burned off and this special moment was gone.
