For day two of the challenge we will look at some close-ups of daisies I took during one of my morning walks a couple miles from my house.

For a fun experiment I will be posting three images each day for three days. These were from a recent trip to the Redwoods Parks in California.
“Nature is not only what is visible to the eye – it also presents the inner pictures of the soul – the images on the reverse side of the eye.” (Edvard Munch)
When I explore the smaller details of nature with my camera I am in reality experiencing the moment fully and expressing that experience as an image.

The artist in me is drawn to water. It is formless and shapeless while assuming all of the shapes and forms it flows into. It reflects the environment and reveals secrets hidden beneath its’ surface.

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts. There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature — the assurance that dawn comes after night, and spring after winter.”
― Rachel Carson, Silent Spring

“Nature always wears the colors of the spirit.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

I enjoy finding places that may be overlooked by most. I spent some time recently in Indiana hiking through ancient stone canyons that were carved by glacial meltwaters during the Pleistocene Epoch. I followed one gorge as it flowed into the next and one stunning view gave way to another. It was an amazing experience.

I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in. ~John Muir
This image was created while exploring the structure of this plant on a hillside one morning. I take as much joy in these macro explorations as I do in my larger scale nature photographic treks.
